The SCE Arts Website
Through SCE Arts we aim to offer opportunities to explore exciting creative initiatives through learning projects that challenge and inspire our students. Our Arts offer supports the Arts Council Strategic Plan ‘Achieving Great Art For Everyone’ with a focus on Goal 5:
Every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts.
This is achieved through:
High quality arts teaching in our schools which are supported by national initiatives:
Artsmark. They celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. We are continuing to take part in the scheme under the new framework. SCE leads the way nationally with 72% of schools enjoying and celebrating an Artsmark award.
Creative Partnerships. Work continues this year with 'A New Direction' London's Bridge Partner for Arts Council England continuing as our delivery arm for Creative Partnerships with John Riches as our Creative Agent. SCE Enquiry Schools are exploring the Olympic Values through the Arts with professional artists working in schools worldwide.
The Arts Awards Programme. Since adopting the Arts Award 2007 with a pilot group of nine students the programme is now running in 62 % of our schools world wide. In November we celebrate 5 years of the National Arts Awards Programme. SCE are the largest outside England centre with the most awards. Arts Award Gold has now provided valuable UCAS points for some of our students. Through Arts Awards projects we have raised funds for the Afghan Appeal Fund. Our SCE Art Calendar of students work last year was a celebration of Afghan Art and was sold in aid of the appeal. This year we are also supporting The Globe Theatre through our Arts Projects.
SCE / Globe Partnership. Arts Partnerships continue to provide inspiring opportunities for our students most notably our partnership with Globe Education. This year for the fourth year we are able to take part in the ‘Playing Shakespeare Scheme’ and have been offered free theatre tickets. The Globe is also an important part of our Gifted and Talented Arts Summer School now in its 6th year. We are able to be part of the Shakespeare Challenge where some of our students gain Arts Award Bronze through seeing and exploring Shakespeare. Globe Practitioners work in our schools with students and children. Globe Education is instrumental in opening doors to Shakespeare learning in SCE.
The Arts Offer in SCE inspires pupils, engages with their positive energy and enables them to use their imagination to enjoy the arts.
SCE furthering the talent of their students creatively through the Arts being the best they can be and making a difference.
Our exciting website www.sceschools.com/art this website, reflects the creative journey that embraces the talents of SCE children.
